Using Keyboard Shortcuts
To use a keyboard shortcut, press and hold one or more modifier keys and then press the last key of the shortcut. For example, to use ⌘ + C (copy), press and hold the Command key, then the C key, then release both keys.
Modifier Keys:
⌘Command (or Cmd)
⇧Shift
⌥Option (or Alt)
⌃Control (or Ctrl)
⇪Caps Lock
fn / Globe key.
On keyboards made for Windows PCs, use the Alt key instead of Option, and the Ctrl key or Windows logo key instead of Command.
Keys in the top row of many Apple keyboards (F1-F12) often have special symbols and functions printed on them (like brightness, volume, Mission Control). To use these as standard function keys (F1, F2, etc.), you typically need to press and hold the Fn (Function) or Globe key along with the function key. You can change this behavior in System Settings > Keyboard.
